Blackweir Bridge
“What a beautiful day! The sun is out and so am I – I’ve walked along the Taff Trail from Butetown to Blackweir. The river and park is looking so photogenic in the sunshine it’s hard to choose a subject for today’s picture. I’ve decided to show you Blackweir Bridge, an elegant (and bouncy) footbridge across the River Taff that was designed and constructed in the 1980s by engineering students at nearby Cardiff University.”
Thanks Jeremy! Catch you next time…

A lovely photo of the bridge. It is older than you think. It’s vintage 1974 – 40 years old this year. There’s a plaque high up on one of the uprights that gives the year and commemorates the building of the bridge by UWIST. (http://www.blipfoto.com/entry/4498497)

No Its not. the old bridge was built in 1970’s the current one is quite new, they just kept the plaque. I remember them taking the old one down and erecting this one because me and the kids used to have to walk on the temporary bridge which was quite scary.

Thank you Eva. Do you know of any photos of the old bridge? I’m fascinated by the history of the place.
